Our first summer show is "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum". This Broadway classic was written by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim. Local doctor Ken Franklin will be directing, and the multi-talented Tom Temple will be producing the show. Check out our "Coming Up" page for show dates.
This is the largest adult musical that South County Players has ever staged. We still have openings on the tech crew - give us a call or email!
"B-I-N-G-O Spells Murder" was a big hit. Thanks to all who attended this benefit for South County Community Services. Both nights were a sellout!

The movie below is the curtain call for our last family production, "Lend Me a Tenor". The entire play is performed in just over two minutes!
Plenty! South County Players is a diverse group of men, women and children committed to bringing theater to the Vicksburg area. We have been active since 1995. We meet monthly, and currently produce two plays a year, as well as radio dramas, dinner/dessert theater, and educational opportunities for area children. Each summer we present one production featuring a predominantly adult cast. In 2005, we produced our first musical: "Forever Plaid". We followed that up in 2006 with the classic musical "Nunsense", and in 2007 we performed the Tony award-winning farce "Lend Me a Tenor".
In June 0f 2008, we will be performing "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".
During the summer we involve children from school age to adolescence in a full production. In 2007, we presented "The Worst High School Play in the World".
In 2008, we wil present "Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective".
Each year, in cooperation with local Girl Scout troops, we offer an interactive workshop on theater production. This covers everything from lighting, makeup, and set design to production, direction and acting.
We also offer a library play-reading day at the Vicksburg Community Library. This day-long activity exposes area school-age children to the joys of reading and theater.
